Preparing Our Nurses for Success

The Howard University Hospital (HUH) Nurse Residency Program (NPR) is a 12-month endeavor, designed to provide a seamless transition into practice for the newly licensed, registered nurse. The Nurse Residency Program uses a transformational and evidence-based curriculum administered by Vizient and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN)TM. Through collaboration across nursing and various disciplines, the program supports the development of new graduate nurses, both professionally and personally, allowing them to acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviors critical to achieving clinical competency in an acute care nursing practice.
